Current Quests – Week of 05/18/08
Tidings, folks. We’re back with another installment of “That Thing We Do Every Sunday”. Prepare to be astounded and amazed as no less than five – count ’em, five! – staffers have fallen under the insidious snare of Persona 3: FES. Not me, however… not yet, although I confess it did look tempting as I passed by at the store. More on that later.
Our beloved No. 6 Derek “Roku” Cavin, one of the many under Persona 3: FES‘ thrall, reported moving on to Answer, whatever that is. Neverwinter Nights is assumed to be sharing his attention, and he may even be toying with the possibilty of mod making. The brother had me at “hello,” even though he didn’t say it.
Jerry “XeroZohar” Swain, fresh from his leetle stint as a Russian/Eastern European vehicular appropriations expert in Grand Theft Auto IV, has set his sights on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, with thoughts of Lost Winds and Persona 3: FES circling overhead like vultures. Uninteresting side note, it is one of my many lifelong dreams to own a pet vulture and name it Ricardo.
Jordan “J_Sensei” Jackson is on his way to Vietnam as we speak, where he’ll be for a couple weeks. Ever the dutiful one, he has brought work with him in the form of The World Ends With You and its supposedly delicious postgame content. On deck, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones and Metroid: Zero Mission. This man plays more portable games than I play games, period. I am thusly humbled. Have a safe trip, J!
T.J. “Nerdboy Himself” Condon, patient zero in the Persona 3: FES phenomenon, is busying himself with the video review of same. Sadly, he keeps getting pulled aside by Boom Blox, and by ‘sadly’ I mean ‘awesomely.’ That’s right people, we’re making up words as we need them.
Michael “CactuarJoe” Beckett finds himself also a Persona 3: FES adherant. At last report he is thoroughly enjoying the new content, although he has raised issue with some of the more disturbing imagery. No, I don’t know what that’s supposed to be, and yes, it looks like what you think it looks like.
Erika “wolfraven80” Lachapelle breaks the Persona 3 cycle and instead dedicates her free time to The World Ends With You. In between busting Noise, she wonders if the shiny thing she saw a while ago is what distracted her from Suikoden V, which she intends to get back to in short order.
Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko brings the Persona 3 love right back, currently on floor 98 of Tartarus and showing no signs of slowing down despite the fact that the man has gone through ninety-seven floors. Seriously, how do you prepare yourself for that kind of bonus dungeon? Is there some kind of training montage set to “Push it to the Limit” or something? Oh, also he’s at Exdeath’s castle in Final Fantasy V.
Cortney “Alethea” Stone busies herself with her Wild ARMs: XF review; to give you a short preview, imagine a game that would have to work to be mediocre, and you’ll get the idea. When she’s not playing an axe-wielding catgirl/cultural icon in Final Fantasy XI she’s daydreaming about Crisis Core, and the occasional Humeboy in a really cool hat.
Speaking as that Humeboy, I haven’t been up to much new in terms of games; still playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, toying with a replay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and so on. I have, however, just procured a shiny new, reasonably-priced HDTV so I can finally stop squinting at the barely-legible text in Mass Effect, Dead Rising, and… well, pretty much everything on the 360. Store was out of Grand Theft Auto IV, so I snagged Call of Duty 4 and Obscure: The Aftermath instead. All right, so none of that pertains to RPGs, but I’m just saving myself up for the awesomeness that will be Mass Effect for the PC and the Witcher special edition.
That’s it for us, folks. Have a good week! Now if you’ll excuse me, Deus Ex isn’t going to replay itself.
